Love is in the air. Or is it? Love. Venus. Libra. What could go wrong? Part I gave the basis of the elected wedding chart. Paying attention to all the meanings of each zodiac sign is critical to electing a wedding horoscope. Libra is love but it is also balance, justice and open enemies. It is one of the best kept secrets of the zodiac but Libra is war.
Libra
A Libran marriage (one with strong Libra planetary placements) hangs each partner in the balance. Do you have the same social status, intelligence, religion, education, and earning capacity? The more equal you are the better. For you, Libra could work beautifully. If not, stay away from it.
Libra is great for agreements. This is the major positive feature of choosing Libra for your wedding. Whoever cooks, the other washes the dishes. If you work to make money, I’ll build our business. You get the kids ready and off to school and I’ll pick them up from practice. You become a team and you live by your agreements. You have a partner you can count on. In the words of the only other strong Arian-Libran at work, teamwork is dreamwork.
Libra easily devolves into conflict and open warfare. Open enemies. Picture a matched pair of carriage horses they need to be evenly matched or yoked. If they aren’t, the strong one is going to struggle. One of the most famous weddings in the world had a Libra Ascendant. Prince Charles and Diana Spencer played out their relationship catastrophe in the open. Libra can be used to imbue your marriage with the energy to create a fulfilling partnership but the couple will reach a balance. The strong one will weaken and the weak one will strengthen. If you aren’t equal someone is going to take a big step down. Resentment is just one of the negative emotions that could result. Boredom when you find you aren’t growing. Exhaustion when your partner is constantly holding you back. And the weaker person. How about low confidence because you never seem to catch up to your spouse.
From 1971 until 1984, Pluto was in Libra and anyone married during this time imbued their marriage with powerful destructive marriage potential. Older marriages struggled too. Divorce rates skyrocketed in many countries among these Libra Pluto couples. They carried this energy into the Scorpio Pluto period and beyond. Prince Charles and Diana Spencer married in 1981 but they divorced in 1996. There was divorce before Libra Pluto but this period was a noticably harsh time for marriage. The zodiac sign of Libra is noticeably difficult for natives of all planetary types. Practice does endow these persons with stronger boundaries and greater refinement but it is hard won.
Examine the Roles of Each Person
While it seems some individuals could contract a marriage that switch traditional roles, generally, the ruler of the Ascendant will represent the husband and the ruler of the Descendant, the wife. The wedding horoscope reveals the role each will have in the marriage. This should be a major priority in any election. The aspect between them should be reviewed and the aspect between the planets dispositors should be reviewed. You often see one of these two in sign or house conjunction and that often represents the actual marriage ceremony.
In the royal marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, Prince Charles is represented by the Virgo Venus in the 11th, Diana Spencer is the Cancer Mars in the 9th.
Charles has the glyph of Persephone (♇⚳) in his 1st house and he has Aquarius on the cusp of his 7th house, traditionally the house of marriage. The implication is that Charles, his physical body, is not actually his and his marriage would not be conventional or even that it would break up. The glyph of Persephone is a representation of a person who is kidnapped and must adapt and overcome the challenges of the custody fight between Ceres and Pluto. This royal wedding was not about Charles Mountbatten-Windsor but instead was the royal wedding of The Prince of Wales, heir-apparent to the British throne, who happened to be Charles.
This is no intimate ceremony but instead is the wedding for the audience. In the horoscope, Queen Elizabeth II is represented by the 30° Leo Ceres and she is standing near the Virgo Venus. The asteroid Camilla is conjunct the Virgo Venus. Prince Charles always wanted Camilla Shand but his wishes didn’t matter to the palace. It is Jupiter who arranged Persephone’s wedding and the astrology shows Jupiter is arranging the Prince’s marriage here. Jupiter is conjunct Saturn and sextile the Leo Sun. It is time (Saturn) that the Prince of Wales (Virgo Venus) should do his duty (Saturn) and join into a royal (Leo Sun) merger (10th house) to create a family (Cancer in the 10th). We all know how this one turned out. It devolved into a war until Queen Elizabeth ordered a divorce when the damage threatened to damage the Royal Firm.
Prince Charles fell in love with Camilla Shand and he couldn’t have her because he didn’t want it enough and she wasn’t what his family wanted for their heir. So she married another man becoming Camilla Parker Bowles. Once Prince Charles found his marriage intolerable he began a long affair with Camilla. In 2005, he finally got his way and married her. First, the Pope died and so they couldn’t marry on the original date. The asteroid Camilla was at 19° Aries but the Sun was 18° Aries then. That delay of one day put Camilla right in Charles’ hands. This time he is represented by the Aries Sun. Saturn still put up roadblocks but the Aries zodiac sign shows this time the Prince would fight for his lady. To further cement Charles’ commitment made in the 10th house is the ruler of the Aries Sun in the 7th house of marriage loosely conjunct the ruler of the Pisces Uranus, the planet representing Camilla Parker Bowles.
This time Charles had the good sense to choose a Leo Ascendant and place himself as the Sun. A royal prince’s marriage to a unique bride. It is not every day that a royal mistress marries and becomes a royal duchess. That the bride’s natal horoscope is heavily 12th house is even more interesting. After being hidden away, her Leo Ascendant has thrust her forward into the limelight. The wedding Pisces Uranus in the 8th house represents Camilla as marrying during the time most are considering retirement. A very Aquarian period in ones life while highlighting her natural role as Charles’ consort and her own personal preference of being hidden and behind the castle walls so to speak. Obviously, her influence has always been behind the scenes and the wedding chart continues to highlight that theme.
All Things Venus
Venus generally represents the bride not necessarily wife but the actual appearance and feel of her bridal experience. Prince Charles was the Virgo Venus at his wedding to Diana Spencer. Her appearance as a virginal Cinderella is very in keeping with a Virgo Venus in the 11th. The movie Cinderella debuted as an Aquarian dream. Camilla married Charles in a simple white dress that ended at her knees. In keeping with the Aries Venus in the 10th house, she married in a traditional white but simple, uncomplicated outfit at a guildhall. The hem and neckline had very little detailing and her hat was far more interesting than the rather simple white dress and coat. She looked more like she had just attended a Sunday church service than a wedding to the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom.
In another Arian style wedding this time an Aries Ascendant, JFK Jr and his wife chose the sheer simplicity of a near derelict church with plastic seating, candelit by necessity rather than design. The simple setting became the set for the dazzling Leonine American royalty picture of JFK Jr. as the Leo Mars kissing the hand of Carolyn Besette, the Leo Venus, who looked stunning in a dress that fit her like a glove. It was so tight she was really, really late to the wedding having a terrible time getting into it. Leo Venus brides tend to have dresses that wear them.
Princess Anne was a different looking bride. In her wedding chart to Captain Mark Phillips, her bridal attire is an example of a Capricorn Venus in the 12th house. It was inspired by medieval Tudor clothing but created in Victorian bridal white. A very structured dress it stands out among royal wedding gowns as looking high status and rich with very little ostentation. The Capricorn Ascendant wedding chart with its Cancer Saturn and Cancer Moon suggests the purpose of this wedding was to create a family.
You do not have to elect a wedding chart. Marriage is often a place and time of strong karmic influence. My own mother had within her the karmic need to complete a shared journey with someone, her natal retrograde Sagittarius Jupiter in the 8th house, and to build her own future karmic wealth, her natal Taurus north node in the 12th house. She did not elect her marriage chart nor even know what her natal chart said about her life. Not just unknown but unsuspected, her marriage was the key to advancing these two influences. She married under a Sagittarius Sun, a Taurus Moon and a Cancer Ascendant. Her role in the marriage was the retrograde Taurus Saturn in the 10th house. Building wealth from her career in the southern United States a foreign nation very different from the western New York of her childhood. On her wedding day in candlelight, she had never liked veils and so she wore a Spanish mantilla. There on the 5th house stage whose limelight like the Kennedy wedding was candlelight, her wedding chart had a Sagittarius Venus.
