Twenty years after its premiere, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has returned to movie screens. Miranda Priestly, fashion doyenne, is the devil referenced in the title of the film. Based on a book that was written by a former assistant to Anna Wintour of Vogue, it is seen as an insider account of the cut throat world of high fashion.
The name Miranda Priestly comes from the Latin mirandus which means admirable and the English Priestly which is used in the sense that something is of “a Priestlike manner”. An admirable priestess of high fashion.
The chart is explicit in its message. There is a tight T-square chart pattern. It reminds me of the pitchfork heel in the film’s original art. There is nothing soft about a T-square it is a pressure cooker that forces its energy outward. The 9° Scorpio Jupiter Sabian symbol is “dental work”. The fashionable appearance of new teeth and bright smile; the better with which to eat you. Miranda eats steak. Anna Wintour’s Sun at 10° Scorpio is “a fellowship supper”. In the second movie, the Last Supper presides over the final fashion event. The scene leaves it an open question; who will eat whom?
In one of the original scenes, Andrea or Andy (Anne Hathaway) has to bring the book to Miranda’s home but she is not to go upstairs. She does. The film is clear that home is not a soft place with an Aries Moon in the fourth house.
The Scorpio zodiac sign may seem powerful but underneath, Miranda is beholden to the man with the wealth. Can she keep her job or will she be toppled and replaced by a younger, classy woman? The T-square is two outstretched legs locked on two opposite stones. Miranda is straddling a crevasse with nothing underneath her. It is not her company but others. Finally Scorpio’s ruler is the retrograde Sagittarius Pluto which is rising and quincunx the Taurus Mars in the fifth. The Sagittarius Pluto in the first is Miranda on the battlefield stepping out of the car. The Taurus Venus in the fifth is the models on the runway wearing expensive couture clothing. The quincunx is at once a hard and easy aspect. It is easy in the sense that you are going down hill and will get there but hard in the sense that you are standing on top of a steep path made of loose stone. Staying on your feet as you slide down a rocky path is the energy of the quincunx. Miranda as the rising Devil is sliding down her path to the red carpet and stage of the high fashion show where the wealthy Taurus Venus is awaiting her. Will she fall on her face or arrive in triumph?
