The Astrology of the Grand Fire Trine of Star Wars

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… This beginning opens the Star Wars films. The original story of rebellion against an empire. The capture of plans to a devastating imperial weapon, the Death Star, capable of destroying planets. A beautiful princess is chased by the Empire and the scene opens in them cutting into her ship while she hastily protects the plans. The purpose of the rebellion is to restore freedom to the galaxy.

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armoured space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire’s sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her spaceship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy.”

-Episode IV – A New Hope

This points to the Grand Fire Trine of the premiere chart. The planetary points of the Grand Fire Trine serve as the Galactic Empire (Leo Saturn), the Rebel Alliance (Aries Mars-Venus-south node conjunction) and the restoration of freedom and the guardians of that freedom the Jedi Order (rx Sagittarius Neptune). The Grand Trine is a uninterupted flow of energy. The fire element is initiation. It is action. To act. This type of energy is very much that of a race car roaring around the racetrack. There is nothing to slow the car down and action is followed by a corresponding complimentary action until you round back to the starting position and keep going.

The Star Wars Premiere with Grand Fire Trine

Analysis of the horocope gives a very straightforward karmic reading. The Leo Saturn in the twelfth is in a very tight mini Trine Saturn-Jupiter-Pluto aspect. The empire sits at the apex of Jupitarian belief and Plutonic control. Saturn sits in the twelfth house. In this position, Saturn can serve as the structure of the veil. What is hidden from everyone. A person with a Saturn in the twelfth is wrestling with the structure of the things unseen and is the structure of the unseen. This entire movie is about religion and belief. The Force. Star Wars is a movie ultimately about the action and structure of what a Christian might think of as holy spirit or the Holy Ghost. The action of God.

This takes us to the meaning of this particular Grand Fire Trine. The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Trinity. Saturn the father, Neptune the holy spirit and Mars the son conjunct Venus for his sister. Princess Leia. Darth Vader the father, Force the holy spirit and Luke Skywalker the son conjunct Leia Organa the daughter. The strange almost flirtation between Luke and Leia. Mars and Venus. Luckily Han Solo, a very Martian name for who is the true solo actor but Mars, steps in to play the love relationship part of the Mars-Venus conjunction.

The Rebel Alliance sits in the house of Jupiter. They believe in independence and freedom and are willing to fight for their beliefs. They are the children of The Empire. The Leo zodiac sign is about closeness to god. Anakin Skywalker, now Darth Vader, is the son of the midi-chlorians and Shmi Skywalker, born free but captured and enslaved, she gave birth as a virgin. Anakin is the Christian Jesus in both light and shadow. The savior and the fallen. What is evil and what is good? What is light and what is dark? The Force is the merging of both. The Grand Fire Trine is Star Wars’ Force in action. In this paradigm, the Rebellion cannot ultimately win, the Empire cannot ultimately lose because to do so is to destroy The Force. They must forever propel the story and the galaxy forward. Star Wars is a movie about the Grand Fire Trine. It tells a story of the Trinity of God.

Addition 5/2/26 – I’ve been thinking more about the rareness of this configuration. The last time a Leo Saturn, Sagittarius Neptune and Aries Mars came close to a Grand Fire Trine was in March 1654. In December 1653, Oliver Cromwell was made Lord Protector for life. His first actions were to seek peace with the Dutch, reform parish religion by introducing judicial reforms that would regulate ministers, he also stopped Puritans from taking over Maryland where he restored the Roman Catholic proprietorship and kept religious tolerance, and, after 350 years of banishment, he also granted permission for the first Jews to return to England. North America also saw its first Jewish community begin in 1654.

In that respect, there is a clear pattern to be seen Cromwell was a Darth Vader figure. The Dark Father. A Sith Lord. Restoring peace. Restoring balance. Judicial reforms, peace with the Dutch, religious tolerance are all signs of balance and Libra at work. The opposition zodiac sign to Aries. Darth Vader was the prophesied one who would bring balance to the Force. His Arian son opposed his Libra balance. In the Christian cosmology, the father and the son are often explored and very understandable but it is the third part of the trinity that is left unknown. The Holy Ghost. Star Wars seeks answers to that question. How does it come about? What is it? It is the Holy Ghost that creates Adam and begets Jesus. Through it good and evil is created. Star Wars asserts it is older than the Father and the Son.

The retrograde Sagittarius in the fifth house is the creative action of the Force. Unleashing force beyond human control. That is Sagittarius freedom unleashed from the control of Scorpio. Sagittarius is the freedom to act. Luke and Leia are Aries in the ninth house. They are in the ninth house; the temple of Sagittarius. The Leo Saturn in the twelfth is the Dark Father as master of the hidden structures of the force. Luke and Leia destroy the Death Star. A triffle. “The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.” (Darth Vader).

Star Wars has three distinct consciousnesses that are in concert. For those of us born in 1977, most of our fathers were not present or were not cuddly men. The men in our lives, at least for the people I know were mainly retired grandfathers who were all World War II veterans. They were tough and they expected us to be tough. Times were tough. We were born in the midst of a fuel crisis, geopolitical crisis and the stagflation of the 1970s. Those of us in 1977 were Aries south nodes. I have an Aries Moon in place of the Aries Mars of Star Wars. Past fights loomed large in our lives. World War II was still alive in the minds and actions of veterans in our neighborhoods. The Civil War was still a memory specific enough that we were told of how Confederate and Union army units had actually passed through and ravaged our neighborhood. How the railroad bridge was held long enough to hide the hogs. Where the hogs were hidden. Who lost what when their homes were looted. Summers were hot and church every Sunday was mandatory. “The Force is not a power you have. It’s not about lifting rocks. It’s the energy between all things, a tension, a balance, that binds the universe together.” (Luke Skywalker) The cool watery spirit of Pisces is shown in its fire state as the Force – the taunt chain glowing red hot holding the fiery universe from exploding apart.

The Aries Mars is learning how to tug on its links. The Leo Saturn can both unwind, wind and forge new links of the chain. Saturn is the master and in Leo he is master of creation.
