On the night before Thanksgiving, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked an airplane, collected a ransom and jumped with a parachute from the back of the plane. The media began calling him D. B. Cooper. The money was never spent but a little over eight years later a young boy found $5,800 of the ransom on the riverbank Tena Bar. It was found in an unexpected location upstream from the drainage area of the suspected jump site.
The only other find was a placard north of the suspected jump zone. This placard was for the stairwell on the same type of plane. The placard probably blew off when the stairs were opened. Dan Cooper jumped with the money. Let’s start with him and then we will follow the money.
The astrology and Sabian symbols for the parachute jump isn’t good. The ruler of the Ascendant, 25°Aquarius Moon in the 8th house, represents Dan Cooper. The Sabian symbol of 25° Aquarius is “A butterfly with the right wing more perfectly formed.” Sounds like the parachute malfunctioned. You can see him twisting around the chute partially opened in this symbol. The 8th house represents places like mines and graveyards. Although he could have landed in an 8th house place it is also possible the jump zone for him was his grave.
The Moon is part of a Yod with the Venus and the Ascendant. Venus represents the money. The 25° Cancer Ascendant is on the symbol “a dark shadow or mantle thrown suddenly over the right shoulder.” Again, the emphasis on some sort of asymmetrical element. This could reference the parachute but since the money is involved it strikes me that the money could have caused the problem with the parachute. It may be the money just ripped clear of him. Skydives generally last about five or six minutes. The Ascendant changes in that time to 26° Cancer on the symbol “contentment and happiness in luxury, people reading on davenports.” Sounds like he hit the ground or at least the treetops and died. If he died, what does Pluto have to say about it. There near the Imum Coeli, Pluto lies at 1° Libra on the Sabian symbol “a butterfly made perfect by a dart through it.” Dan Cooper never spent the money and was never seen again because he was probably impaled on a tree limb, had died, and was caught in a prone position.
Money is represented by Venus. The 25° Sagittarius Venus in the 6th is part of the Yod. It is on the symbol “a chubby boy on a hobbyhorse.” That is the perfect picture of a heavy bag of cash stuck across two branches but sagging in the middle. It is in the 6th house so that is a liminal place. Caught between heaven and earth suspended inbetween the two. Before he jumped and at her request, Dan Cooper offered some cash to a flight attendant. She didn’t accept and cited company policy not to accept gratuities. The money found years later was missing $200 but the other cash was still arranged as it had been given to him. That money he had given the stewardess was likely nearest the top of the bag he jumped with. Venus is conjunct Mercury. Mercury rules short distances. It is Mercury that represents the money that got away. The 24° Sagittarius Mercury is on the Sabian symbol “a bluebird perched on the gate of a cottage.” That bundle may have been poised to fall out of the bag waiting for the moment to take a short trip.
The ransom discovery most likely took place during the Ascendant in Gemini. A young boy found that old Mercurial bundle. Venus is on the Sabian symbol “a woman rises out of the water, a seal rises and embraces her.” No longer perched on a gate and not too far away the bundle waits to be found by a young child, both represented by Mercury, on the symbol “a church bazaar”. Church bazaars are tables full of food and the family was preparing a campfire for a picnic. They were close to the main source of money but that Mercurial bundle had made its short trip.
As for Dan Cooper, the 25° Virgo Saturn trines the D. B. Cooper Moon and the 25° Scorpio Uranus squares it. Saturn represents the most enduring parts of the jump and is tied by the Sabian symbols to the parachute, Dan Cooper and the money. Whatever was left of that parachute and money bag was on the Sabian symbol “a flag at half mast”. The Uranus symbol is “an x-ray.” The picture emerges that on that day whatever was left of the parachute, money bag and Dan Cooper had disintegrated.
Dan Cooper inspired several other hijacking attempts. Although the copy cats all succeeded in landing safely they were all apprehended quickly. One immediately lost his money as he jumped. We may never know for certain what happened but when they found the ransom money, 21° Libra Pluto was in the 5th house on the symbol “a crowd upon the beach”. The 5th house is playgrounds and stages. While the FBI was raking the beach and investigating they were the center of media attention but located not very far away also on the stage, was the flag at half mast. One wonders if instead of looking down they had looked up, might we know more about what happened.
