In town, the Valentine hearts are already up on the light poles. In Onancock, the Christmas bells come down and hearts go up. Love, Libra, is in the air. At my work, one of my people is on a quest for love. A quest for love that ends up a ghost hunt. Prospects appear and then disappear without a word. My friend in Texas and nephew in Maryland both talk about similiar experiences. Everywhere it seems that the young have forgotten how to relate and couple with another person.
Jupiter is the immense planet that pulls you in. Gravity. It is the planet that governs the quest and questions. The subject of your question will be determined largely by the zodiac sign of Jupiter. It will also be informed by your Sagittarius zodiac sign, ninth house, and aspects to Jupiter. A Libra Jupiter is on a quest for love. Libra is also the zodiac sign interested in money, marriage and lower case j justice. Jupiter is the King and his zodiac sign Sagittarius is interested in beliefs, expansion, wide open spaces and room to roam, and capital J Justice.
Libra Jupiter natives usually end up with some larger than life love stories. Jupiter is represented by the centaur with bow and arrow. Loose the arrow and follow the path. Jupiter is just not that interested in the destination but loves the journey to get there. A Jupiter in Libra is not one to get his or her once in a lifetime love and be satisfied with The End and credit roll.
How does King Jupiter Sitting on his Throne Embark on a Quest?
Imagine Jupiter sitting on his throne in Olympus. The ninth house would be Olympus. Ambrosia is flowing, the other gods are clustered around. He is sitting as judge of the world and has his thunderbolts nearby. But its a party. Lots of fun. What does he see when he surveys his kingdom?
Some pretty young woman strikes his interest and he gets up and goes after what he wants. He moves from the ninth house to the first house. He leaves and she produces his child. This is the Fire Grand Trine from the viewpoint of the King. Even Christianity evokes the Fire Grand Trine to produce Jesus. God comes in his guise as Holy Spirit and overshadows the Virgin Mary and she conceives the Son of God.
That is the manner of the quest of Jupiter. Interest, fertilization followed by him leaving and than the seed growing, without Jupiter, to its maturity.
The Libra Jupiter Quest
Jupiter is often seen in myth on a quest of Libra. This is Jupiter pursuing a young woman; Leto, Alcmene, Io, Europa, Antiope, Danae, Semele and the list goes on and on. Jupiter never gives up on his quest but once the woman submits, the credits instantly roll. He has his answer. It is The End of the quest. Other quests often never end. My Libra ninth house quest never seems to end because the answers just lead to more questions. My father’s Libra Jupiter-Juno was conjunct my ninth house north node. Jupiter is very important in my family.

Understanding astrology, my father was a shaman in the sense that he pursued a life of ritual and meaning. Always religious but he disliked the Church, he kept his Lutheran faith throughout his life. He believed though in a more ancient things too. He had a spiritual life outside the confines of the Christian church. Sagittarius, Taurus and Virgo themes featured heavily in his life. I feel like he was a Gemini Ascendant and projected his Sagittarius onto others, family and friend alike, when he was more Sagittarian than all of us.
My mother played the Libra Juno-Jupiter conjunct Chiron trine Gemini Uranus aspect in his chart. His ancient marriage wound was replicated in this life. Her Sagittarius Jupiter was conjunct his south node. As I’ve discussed before, the nodes are a factory. The north node takes in raw material and the south node is the dock with the finished goods.
My mother gave my father a lot of luck in life but the south node is not about growth. It is about the produce of your life. In a strange way, it is about your future life not your present. Although it is not the only place you create karmic produce, it may very well be the major one. People who stay in your life with a planet on your south node are souls with which you have a long, deep relationship. The north node is about this life and new material. You are incorporating that new material into your greater life cycle. Growth can be very attractive. For Jupiter, the journey is important. Growth is especially important. People who stay in your life with a planet on your north node can also be souls with which you have a long, deep relationship or are building a new one. Either way, that soul is here to encourage your growth.
People who impact our nodal path are souls that we are in a cosmic relationship with. If you find you don’t want to remain in that relationship, you need to do the work to remove them from your present life without rancour. Returning yourself to a neutral state with regards to them. Just a stranger. As my grandmother used to say, let the damn fool go.

Their marriage chart has the Sagittarius Venus conjunct dad’s south node. The love of Jupiter. The marriage Imum Coeli (I.C.) was built on a foundation of his Libra Jupiter-Juno-Chiron and my Mom’s Libra Neptune. It was him as Jupiter and her as Juno that attempted to work on the marriage. Ultimately, they divorced. Dad’s trine to Gemini Uranus. The marriage chart has Uranus conjunct the I.C. Breaking up the foundation.
Jupiter can be very loyal and have a strong moral code. It is not absolute that a Jupiter will be disloyal. My parents were dissatisfied with their marriage. They had dated three years and were married almost ten years. Building a marriage on a foundation of Dad’s Jupiter-Juno-Chiron and Mom’s Neptune didn’t result in a solid marriage.
My mother told him where ever you go, there you are. He left and moved in with my stepmother. Mom said he was Peter Pan. The boy who never grew up. They remarried and found many of the same struggles. His insults of my maternal grandmother almost got him hit with my mom’s frying pan. He had to wrestle it away from her. His insults of my stepmother’s family got her to leave him with the children for a short time. Stories rhyme. His quest for love was never easy on himself or others. His own growth path had Gemini Uranus conjunct his north node. His divorce produced the material for him to grow. My stepmother, the retrograde Gemini Jupiter, took over and pulled him to grow.
Strategies To Regain Movement. I’ve thought often about this family Jupiter set up and it just seems like we were trying to pull him out of a rut or a ditch. Rocking the car. My dad had a Taurus Moon. Saturn was conjunct his Mercury and Pluto was conjunct his Venus. I think he was stuck. He died at age 48 due to cancer. All his life he had said “If I reach the age of 50, take me out back and shoot me.”
Having a working car that was stuck was a theme of my life with my mother. As a teenager coming home one January day in 1994 when it was 70 degrees after a snow storm days before, I had my car window open listening to music. My mom had demanded that I learn stick shift and so it had a manual car. Ahead was a packed snow patch and I slid into the ditch. My mom came along and being from western New York she kicked some stones under the back wheels and opened the trunk. She hopped inside and had me rock the car with the gears and finally my back tires caught those rocks and it pulled itself out of the ditch. She knew how to get a car out of ditch.
My mom spent a lot of time in my childhood replicating this whenever it snowed. She would try and get her car out on ice and in snow. There was a hill at the top of our driveway and she would go out as soon as it stopped snowing and try to get out. She could not abide being stuck. There are numerous stories to tell but you get the gist.
If you imagine him headfirst stuck in a ditch, mom definitely got him started on his way out of the ditch. The rest of us got him out on the road and moving forward again. My sister was born after he had to follow a snowplow in a blizzard to the hospital. The dispatcher told him; be at the end of your driveway, get behind the snowplow and stay on it’s tailgate and whatever you do, don’t stop moving.
It was the Libran women in his family that enabled his journey. From my mother and me to my stepmother and my sister, our natal Jupiters lay at both ends of his north node-south node axis. The Libran scales of justice. You can see the scales ascending and descending with all the Jupiters putting pressure on each end. Women, love, marriage, balance. The Libra Jupiter on his quest. He must have made some progress because my brother’s Sagittarius Ascendant is ruled by a Libra Jupiter conjunct Saturn. Mastering the love quest.
