The Astrology of the 2025 Virginia General Election

Calling an election is always nerve wracking. If you are in agreement with the consensus it seems pointless and if you disagree you expect that the astrology or your own delusion will publicly humiliate you. So let’s get right into the astrology of the polls closing in Virginia on November 4, 2025 at 7 pm.

The Ruler of the Moment that the Virginia Polls Close is the Sagittarius Mercury in the sixth house. The Moon, representing Virginians, is in Taurus in the eleventh house.

Virginians are contrarians. We elect our Governor one year after the Presidential elections. I have watched all my life as almost every, if not all, gubernatorial elections swing away from the incumbents in charge of the federal government. I have long chalked it up to the fact that Virginians like things the way they are and one way to stop the government from changing that is to put the government in a standoff. State versus Federal. Flailing around, not working, sitting idle, ie leaving Virginians alone to their own business. Virginia herself is a gigantic Tauran. Stability, storehouses, wealth.

So it is no surprise to me that Virginians are represented by a Tauran Moon in the eleventh house. Others might point to wealth and economy but that is for people who don’t understand Virginia. This Moon is about the Commonwealth. The Virginia Way. The system that produces wealth for everyone. The Sabian symbol is “the rainbow’s pot of gold”. The big issues highlighted by the Aquarius Midheaven are laid bare in the retrograde 30° Taurus (0° Gemini) Uranus. Virginia’s electric system and the big data warehouses and transgender kids.

And then there are the candidates; Abigail Spanberger and Winsome Earle-Sears. There is no doubt that Winsome Sears has the best transits for the moment. Her Venus is conjunct the Election Moon representing Virginians. That is the sign of the best of friends. Her Moon is possibly conjunct the Midheaven and her Sun is conjunct the election’s north node in the tenth house. The tenth house is the house of government, public office and career. While I believe the south node is particularly important it is hard not to see that Virginia is heading toward Earle-Sears. However, I still note that it would be very unusual for Virginia to choose Earle-Sears for this election. She is a Republican while the entire federal government is controlled by Republicans.

Yet, the astrology looks to be a lock for her. It probably does not hurt her that she would be the first black female Governor ever in the United States. In the 1990s, Virginia was the first state to elect a black male Governor since reconstruction. It was decades before another black Governor was elected anywhere in the United States.

Abigail Spanberger has rather less important connections to the Election chart. Without knowing her birth time, giving her a chance that something else might be a hit with this chart, her best chance would be her Virgo Saturn conjunct Virginia’s election south node. That is duty and responsibility and in Virgo, service. Her Sun is in the third house of primary schools, neighborhood and town. Her Juno conjunct the Ascendant doesn’t outweigh the weight of the Earle-Sears connections.

It seems plain that Virginians are focused on their Commonwealth. The Aries Ceres is new forms of wealth. That is Virginia’s new big data centers and the electric power they need. Ashburn, Virginia is the center of the internet in the United States. The dissolving electrical system is the Uranus on the verge of shift from Taurus to Gemini. The Cancer Jupiter is in the second house ruling the Sagittarius Mercury. Virginians are dreaming of new big wealth for families. Aries Ceres conjunct Pisces Neptune and that expansive family oriented Jupiter in the house of wealth. Winsome Earle-Sears has her Taurus Venus conjunct the Taurus Moon. She is the potential partner Virginians are looking for and that leaves whether or not Abigail Spanberger has her own Ascendant telling them she is the woman for the job. The astrology is clear, Winsome Earle-Sears looks to be heading to public office as Governor of Virginia and Virginia seems to be behind her.

Update 11/8/2025. I was wrong and I’m not sure why looking at the astrology. Abigail Spanberger won the Virginia election. I speculate that other charts may have mattered more. Maybe Trump played a spoiler role or maybe I should have looked at the Virginia chart too. It was a very reactionary election. People were angry. In my community, gray headed Baby Boomers stood on the side of the road screaming their hatred for the very system they built being led by a man that embodies all the values they worshipped their entire lives. The divorces and throw away children, the SUVs, the supersized five bedroom mansions for two retirees, “spending my children’s inheritance” RVs, prosperity religion, and the Greed is Good movie productions. Gimme, gimme, gimme. They have joined with their children to win decisively.

All elections have good and bad consequences. My business will probably seen a big influx of cash. The abortion issue will finally be put to bed. There is only two issues I worry about one which we will see what makes it through the process. The other has not been mentioned and I hope never is mentioned.

The Ascendant is at 17° Gemini, “the head of health dissolves into the head of mentality” or “the head of a robust youth changes into the head of a mature thinker.” Knowing who is running the General Assembly, Ms. Spanberger has a tall challenge ahead of her. If she wants to keep her moderate bona fides she is going to have to stand up to her party. And this term takes Virginia through 2029 and gives us hope that we are about to grow up. Robust youth to mature thinker. Sagittarius Mercury to Capricorn Mercury. It won’t happen in the progression of this term but it is clearly a Mercury trait and the Democrats are Mercury after winning this election. We are climbing a demographic mountain but we are near the peak.

Finally, there is also the issue that once again Neptune had retrograded back into Pisces. This is the very issue with Labour in Britain. Swimming against the changing tide. Labour was elected just before the tide turned and so it is with the elections this year. It harkens back to the past. Pisces is the all-mother and Trump doesn’t play well with all-mothers. Neptune is in Pisces until the end of February when it will transit back into Aries not to return to Pisces for over 150 years. The only major aspect of the Moon to the chart ruler in the term will be an opposition at next years election time.

Only Major Aspect of the Moon in the Progressed Chart during the Term.
